With 2019 on the horizon, the Wrenegades are enjoying some well earned rest before a busy looking 2019 Season gets underway.

The RNRL Ladies received a fantastic boost earlier this month with Team Captain Sam Alderson receiving her Sportswoman Of The Year Award which is due recognition for the amount of time and effort Sam has committed to Womens Rugby, of both codes, in the service and beyond over the last 10 years. If any current or prospective players are looking for inspiration then look no further than Sam!

Wrenegades Head Coach Matt ‘Jim’ Bowen is working up a comprehensive and detailed plan for the coming season with an overview in own words below. Before we get to the overview we wish to offer Jim our belated congratulations on his appointment as Assistant Coach to Jordan Robinson for the Scotland National U-16 squad

So in his own words here we go
As our team continues to build so does our relationships with clubs in the heartland of Rugby League, firstly we've some potential to gain real experience for all our Squad this year. Starting with a joint training Camp with Huddersfield Giants at HMS Temeraire 25-27 Jan 19, the weekend will include leadership and teamwork exercises and joint field sessions.
Then our next port of call will be a development game for our junior players at Ince Rose Bridge Club in the North West on 02 Mar, followed by a Development Camp at RNAS Yeovilton 29-31 Mar. This is aimed mainly at our junior players to develop and enhance their skill base.
To further develop we need to expose and locate ourselves in the NW at Blackpool Stanley RL for a development weekend (19 -21 Apr ) come local tournament arranged by ourselves and hopefully playing against some home-grown talent within the NW in a mini round up festival of RL.
Then looking towards the middle of the year (May TBC) we aim to return to Oulton Raidettes in Leeds for an opening fixture and social event. Then as the heat starts to ramp up into June the Ladies will divide into an East Vs West tournament at the annual State of Origin, this will be our precursor into the 2019 Inter Service competition.
Our aim is to develop our youth and build for the future, this is a brief over view of where we are at.
