Saturday sees the return of the Marines Festival at Wigan St Pats after the enforced break resulting from Covid. Whilst it is always a great match between the Corps and St Pats the day is dedicated to the memory of four local men who lost their lives whilst on duty.

The match trophy is named after Sgt Steven Darbyshire and Mne Liam Elms whilst the Man Of The match is named in memory of Cpl Stephen Curley. There is also the Heart Of Courage award dedicated to Lt Cdr Ian Molyneux.

We know it is the final of the Womens Challenge Cup as well as the mens Challenge Cup semis but if you are not going to Elland Road in person set your recorders and get down to Harper Street for a wonderful day centred around the match between the Marines and St Pats with so much more going on throughout the day
