Originally established as a pre-IS selection fixture the match has taken on a life of its own with the players loyal to their colours despite what 'drafty' says

This is the 21st Origin fixture with the Blues of the Eastern Commands holding a dominant lead in matches played over the Maroons of the Western Commands, the Easts with 13 wins to the Wests 7. The Maroons took last season’s clash and will look to take the trophy again this year. The Blues on the other hand will be equally keen to return to winning ways and maintain their dominance.
