Despite a new venue for this eagerly anticipated highlight of out calendar the format remains the same with the UK being split north to south to establish the Eastern Commands and Western Commands sides. The 2024 Origin is once again being sponsored by the QinetiQ group and we are grateful for their continued support of this highlight of the RNRL Calendar.

This is the 20th Origin fixture with the Blues of the Eastern Commands holding a dominant lead in matches played over the Maroons of the Western Commands. Currently the Easts have 13 wins to the Wests 6 so the Wests will be keen to redress the balance whilst the Easts will be equally keen to maintain the dominance. The back story, of course, to this fixture is the opportunity for all players to stake their claim for a place in the Inter Services sides for the September series.

As our followers know we have close links with the Ince Rose Bridge club with the annual Brodie Lee Butler Shield match being a great hit up for both clubs in the early weeks of the new season. Due to the Australia tour the Shield match did not go ahead this year however we will be back next year. However, we are very grateful to the Ince club for making their pitch and facilities available to RNRL for the Origin match. It will be a great afternoon of Rugby League with Origin 20 kicking off at 12:30 followed by the NCL Div 1 clash between ‘the Bridge’ and Hull Dockers
