To summarise the last few days here are the highlights:
1) Three fantastic Inter Services matches at Burnaby Road saw the Seniors regain the Dog Watch Trophy, the Wrenegades come close to beating their RAF counterparts and a terrific performance by Fraser Leach's Academy side in defeat to the RAF Academy highlighted the return of RNRL to Inter Services
The Results: Seniors 22:12
Women 20:24
Academy 10:20
2) On Friday the RN Sports Control Board announced that RNRL had won Royal Navy Sports Team of the year. This is the second time for us in the 25 year history of RL in the Service, the previous time was in 2004 following the firsts winning of the Inter Services series. This award is great recognition of our sport bearing in mind there are around 90 sports available to personnel within the Naval Service.
3) The same day the Association was delighted to welcome NAAFI as our new main sponsors! RNRL is looking forward to working with one of the most recognisable names across the military family worldwide in the coming years.
4) Rounding off the week a cheque for £500 was made to our Charity partners the Royal British Legion at the end of the Womens game yesterday afternoon. The £500 was the result of the monies donated by our friends at the Batley Bulldogs from gate receipts and a top up gift by the club following our Challenge Cup fixture in West Yorkshire back in February.
