The Royal Navy hosted the players, on land and in sea, to enhance team spirit and core values which the team have been developing in their pre season training.
“We were extremely excited about the prospect of working with Harlequins RL and hope to assist at a crucial part of the season,” said Wayne Okell, MBE, who headed up the planning and execution of the training camp.
“We hope to support them in the development of their team dynamics and help to create some opportunities to get them to work together in some extreme environments.
“We organised two days of high intensity, outdoor activity that included diving and climbing, working at height and taking away some of their normal creature comforts. We developed the original idea in partnership with Rob Powell (Head Coach) and his team; the camp was certainly very testing.”
Head Coach, Rob Powell, added: “We have had a great couple of days with the Royal Navy in Portsmouth. It has reinforced some of the values and standards which we have been working towards as we develop as a team.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has made it possible for us to have the unique opportunity to train with the Royal Navy, in particular Wayne Okell, who has headed this process up.”
