Once again RNRL has been hit by the withdrawal of opposition, this time it is the Wrenegades whose match on 20th April is now cancelled

Originally the RN Women were set to play RAF Ladies as part of a development camp at Blackpool, the RAF subsequently withdrew as they had entered the Challenge Cup. Head Coach Jim Bowen managed to set up a fixture against the Wigan Warriors Reserves, unfortunately they have also withdrawn.
The next fixture for the Ladies will now be the weekend of 17-19th May when the Wrenegades make their way to Leeds to face the Oulton Raidettes, fingers crossed for better luck with this fixture. Looking a bit further ahead it is hoped to stage the first ever Womens Origin fixture on the same night as the Men’s Origin Clash (June 12th). After that at the moment there is a lull in activity before the Wrenegades compete in the London 9s Festival for the second year on 25th August. If you are interested in being part of the Wrenegades please contact Womens Team Manager Courtnée Jade Shipman at cjshipman13@gmail.com

For the Men’s Teams May has a lot going on, the action starts on 18th May with the annual trip down to Camborne to put the Cornish Rebels in their place once again. With both teams having won one each of the previous two games its all on again to seize the initiative once again.
The Inter Command fixtures return later in the month with the Fleet Air Arm taking on a Fleet team, details are being finalised for this one but the info will be posted as soon as confirmed.

Into June and it’s another busy month with the return to Portsmouth of the State Of Origin Fixture for the first time in ten years, not since the 2009 fixture has the game been played at HMS Temeraire. The 2010 fixture was played at Yeovil RFC with subsequent matches being played at the pre redeveloped Headingley Stadium and of course last years day out in Petersfield. This year we will put the match on in the evening to allow people to get home from work in time to get over and experience the passion that is Origin. The Blues of the Eastern Commands will look to avenge the last years defeat to the Maroons of the Western Commands as well as looking to catch the eye of the Coaches ahead of Inter Services Selection. As mentioned above it is planned to stage the first Womens Origin fixture as a curtain Raiser which us a great step forward for the Ladies.

RMRL continue to prepare for their annual clash with the Paras and RAF Regiment once again heading to the North West to be part of the Sephton Trophy day on 29th June at Crosfields RLFC. As it stands they will open the days proceedings with a match against the Army Academy kicking off at 11:30

The fixtures will be updated here on the website and elsewhere once details are finalised but we hope to see you all over the next couple of months.

…..and finally thanks very much Terry Gorman who has released full footage of last weeks clash between the UKAF and GB Police Presidents Cup Opener, you can access the footage from the home page of the website or go to YouTube page
