Carnegie Challenge Cup 2011

RNRL have been given a home draw in the first round of the 2011 Challenge Cup, the Brothers will face either St Albans or the GB Police on 22/23Jan.

The draw was made at the spiritual Home of Rugby Leaguie , The George Hotel in Huddersfield by Lee Briers and Adrian Morley from the Warringtonm Wolves, last years victoriious Challenge Cup Winners

Whilst RNRL has never played St Albans before and as such they are a bit of an unknown quantity both the Brothers and CSRL have clashed with the Police on several occasions over the years with mixed results.

The other two servioce teams have both been given away ties,the RAF travel to the East Midlands to face Nottingham Outlaws whilst the Army will travel to South Wales to face Welsh Valley Cougars. Followers of RNRL will note that the Brothers have beaten both Nottingham and Valley Cougars in the previous two Chalenge Cup Campaigns.

The Preliminary Round draw was made in two stages. In the first, seven matches were drawn from Pool A with 19 clubs receiving a bye to the First Round where they joined the 14 NCL Premier teams.

Three matches were then drawn from Pool B, with 10 clubs receiving a bye to the First Round where they were joined by the three services teams.

The First Round draw was also made in two stages. Firstly 20 matches were drawn from Pool A and then eight matches were drawn from Pool B.
