Third time lucky for Frazer Leach and his Academy Squad with an away fixture at Hull Dockers this Saturday!

After the frustrations of two matches cancelled by opposition sides the RNRL Academy travel to Humberside this weekend to face Hull Dockers on Saturday afternoon. Head Coach Frazer Leach and his assistant Adam Birkett have been busy recruiting new players and it will be this squad that will take on the Dockers on Saturday.

The Dockers are one of the many teams based on Humberside and over the years have supplied RNRL with many very talented players however it is a fixture way back in 1999 between the two sides that will always feature in our history. On a filthy night on Humberside RNRL took the field against the Dockers in the 1999/2000 Challenge Cup and the result sent waves through not only the City but across the whole of the sport as the Brothers came away with a win in only their second year in the competition. To add insult to injury the RN points in the 4:0 victory were scored by Hull native Neil Gay! Since then the Dockers have come away with the spoils in fixtures between the two sides but it is that night in 1999 that will always be remembered by the Brothers.

This is a great opportunity for the new players to travel as a squad to take on one of the best known and most successful clubs in the Amateur game and should be a great match. Our thanks to the Hull Dockers Club for hosting the fixture at relatively short notice as part of the Academy preps for Septembers Inter Services.

It is hoped that former Brothers based in the area can make it to the Willows to support the latest group of players to pull on the RNRL Jersey

Hopefully the geese that normally spend the winter at the Willows will have taken flight and moved on for the benefit of players on both sides as well as the spectators - If You Know You Know!
