RNRL Director Of Rugby Dave Garner was on thetouchline for the match and commented after the match:-
The Academy were away against Lancashire Police, however with some 28 lads unavailable for whatever reason it was going to be tough for Head Coach Chris Reeves and Team Manager Tony Newcombe.
However after seeing the lads warm up and hearing Chis state his 3 requirements for his charges I could sense there was something special between Head Coach and his players, and more to the point that something good was about to happen on the pitch!
Skipper on the day Andy Parrott led from the front all day, both on and off the park and is certainly a great advert for the RNRL player pathway, having had a great tour in Austrailia.
As Director of Rugby, I couldn't be more proud and honoured being present watching our future today. A mass of Blue n White Brothers', looking the part, talking the part, and more to the point playing the part!
A super result against dogged opposition (6-18 at HT) was even more pleasing when the 2nd half was into the wind and you scored 42 points to their 6 with a FT score 12-60.
It was also great to see so many debuts today, those that wore that beloved shirt for the first time, you did yourselves and that shirt proud!
Head coach Reeves also added his comments afer the match
´What a buzz!!!!
