The Royal Marines Rugby League earned a historic victory today at CTCRM, Lympstone with a dominant display earning a 44 - 24 win over their Army rivals.
Last season's fixture away at Larkhill saw a potential RMRL victory snatched away in the 6th minute of injury time with the Gunners scoring to bring the scores level. The conversion was missed meaning as holders, the hosts kept the trophy.
However it was a different story on the Top Field today with the fledgling 2015 RMRL squad turning in long periods of dominate play to overturn their visitors and condemn them to their first loss and heaviest points conceded versus Royal.
A depleted RM squad trained hard for two days prior to the match which inevitably lead to 2 players picking up knocks and tweaks which put them out of today's fixture. The situation lead to veteran RMRL player and now Director of Logistics, WO2 Paul 'Nobby' Clark securing a place on the bench!
The RMRL hope to have a much stronger squad when they face the RN at Burnaby Road on 28 March.
