Both sides are grateful to the Wigan Warriors who have added the fixture to their ‘Fans Funday’ as the headline match of the day’s events

Following requests from family and freinds of the late Lt Cdr Ian Molyneux this game and successive matches between the two teams will be played for the Ian Molyneux plate in his memory. Ian, from Wigan, known as 'Molly' by shipmates, died from his wounds sustained during a firearms incident onboard HMS Astute in 2012. Proud of his roots Ian had been heavily involved in the local junior amateur rugby league scene in Wigan, coaching youngsters at the local Shevington Sharks club. His affection for his home town can probably be summed by his statement that 'I now know where the best pies are made, where the best rugby league side plays and where to get a proper pint at a proper price.'!

For Head Coach Steve Lockton the game will be a great chance to get his squad back together and start to focus on the Inter Services Series in September as the Brother seek to retain the IS Title. The Brothers will join the training camp on the Wednesday before the match and travel as usual for the fixture on Friday 22nd June.

As a result of the fixture being adopted by the Warriors the venue has now changed and will now be played at The Robin Park Arena only a stone’s throw from the DW stadium with the match set to Kick Off at 2pm.

The Funday is an all day event staged by the Warriors commencing at 1030 with further details posted on the clubs website as follows
This eagerly anticipated event will start with an Under-8s/Under-9s Junior Rugby League Festival which will include teams from across the country and provide an opportunity for the club to celebrate the importance of junior rugby league. Upon conclusion of the junior festival the entire men’s and women’s first team squads will arrive and be in attendance to meet supporters, sign autographs and take photos.
In addition to this exclusive opportunity to have unlimited access to players, there will also be a wide range of activities for all the family including rugby league inflatable’s, live music, a mini fun fair, food and drink and much much more!

The day will also feature a headline game between the Royal Navy and Great Britain Teachers rugby league teams which will kick off at 2:00pm and offer a fitting conclusion to the event.
