The Academy Brothers avenged last season’s defeat to the Rebels with a comprehensive 52-6 victory on Saturday

The game has set the Academy up well for the rest of the season and was a first in a quite a few ways, first victory for head Coach Wata Robanakadavu, first match as skipper for Danny Johnson and a first game back for Lee Gaskell after the serious leg injury sustained against the Army in 2015.

Once again the Rebels proved great hosts and the sharp eyed of you will have spotted some familiar names amongst the Rebels Line up all who have worn the Brother jersey in the past, Johnny Platt, Jimmy Elliott and Kye Beasley all turned out for the home team on the day.
Following last year’s defeat at the hands of the Cornishmen the Academy Brothers were not going to see a repeats of the inaugural fixture. 5 trys and four conversions plus a top defensive display put Johnson’s men 28-0 to the good at the break.

The second half saw the Rebels finally break the RN line but only the once and the visitors confirmed their superiority with another 24 points to secure the 52-6 victory.

Congratulations to all involved and good luck to the Rebels as they continue to champion Rugby League in the south west.
