The Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity
In early May RNRL was delighted to welcome the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity as our Charity partners for the 2011 Season. To date RNRMC have joined RNRL at both the RNRL 9’s Competition and the Origin match at Headingley and we look forward to many more ‘joint ventures’
The single focus of the RNRMC is to provide support to the entire Naval family. The aim is to help those who are in need or who are suffering hardship; assist with the education of their children; and boost the morale and wellbeing of serving personnel.
The RNRMC is a grant making charity and money donated is filtered into the charities that the RNRMC supports. These charities fall into five areas: Benevolence, Amenities and Dependants, Sports and Prizes.
We always payout the grant to Dependants on death in service and it is a priority to increase the amount given to benevolence causes and charities as the area identified to be of greatest need working in close collaboration with the independent charities whose mission is to provide direct support to individuals in need.
RNRMC charitable objectives include the ability to support those who are in need, suffering hardship or distress and to assist with the education of children of our beneficiaries.
Supported in two ways:
• Firstly, through making grants to the charities in the wider Naval charities sector
• Secondly, through giving out money via the various charities that form part of the RNRMC
One of the core objectives of the RNRMC is to enhance the professional ability, morale and well-being of serving personnel. Families and dependents are central to this mission.
Through The Naval Service Dependants' Fund support is provided in the event of death in service. The RNRMC will arrange the payment of £12,000 within 48 hours of receiving the news. There are no restrictions, no contribution is paid to the Fund to qualify, the amount is not means tested in any way and the payment will always be paid. Support is also given to the families of those affected by an air accident. At a time of immense sadness this is just one very important way that the Charity is able to support the families of the Naval Service.
The Naval Service Amenity Fund helps in the following ways:
• Regular grant – The charity will make a payment every six months to the Commanding Officers of all deployed ships and Royal Marine units worldwide. Commanding Officers are able to use this money as they see fit
• Major grants – If you have a big project in mind, you can apply for grants in excess of over £5,000 from the NSAF. The management committee meets twice yearly to allocate funds
• Minor grants – If you have a minor project or event in mind, you can apply for grants that are below £5,000, at any time of year
• Reserves – The Reserve forces have an amenity fund solely for their use
The Naval Service Sports Charity forms part of the RNRMC. It provides grants, which enable the following:
• Funding the running costs of the 39 Naval Sports Associations
• Provision of sports grants to the Naval Commands around the UK
• Support to individual athletes through the elite athlete programme and coaching
PRIZES & AWARDS
The formation of the RNRMC amalgamated nearly 40 prize and award funds under one new charity called the Naval Services Prize & Awards Fund, including the Herbert Lott Efficiency Awards.
Each year, the fund allocates money to the main training establishments to support the host of individual prizes that exist within the Royal Navy and Royal Marines. In this way, RNRMC is proud to champion the professional efficiency and excellence of the Naval Service
The RNRMC is always happy to take donations in any way you wish to make them. Please follow the link below to find ourt more about the variety of ways you can donate and support the Naval Service‘s own charity
